Reading
Students will read books that they choose within their own independent reading levels (indicated by colored dots on their books.) As students grow as readers, their colored dot will change. When children are tested to see if they are ready for the next level, both fluency and comprehension are taken into consideration.
Teachers College Reading Workshop addresses the ELA Common Core State Standards. We will be closely examining texts in order to develop our students’ reading skills. These texts include both fiction and non-fiction selections. The tools and strategies that your child will learn this year will help them establish great reading habits that will result in college and career readiness.
